Irving Burgie aka Lord Burgess, the songwriter of the song, Day O, made famous by Harry Belafonte, spoke with What's The 411TV host, Glenn Gilliam, at a HealthFirst Black History Month celebration on February 27, 2014.

Born in Brooklyn, NY to a Bajan aka Barbadian mother, and an American father from Virginia, Lord Burgess, who will be turning 90 years-old in July is delighted that people still like his songs. Although people still like his songs, don’t expect Lord Burgess to write any new songs. Lord Burgess jokingly, but seriously stated, he is “getting ready to retire.”

As for any recent contact with Harry Belafonte, Lord Burgess stated, “oh, we pass each other in the night.”

On one of the hottest days of the summer, What's The 411TV's correspondent, Stacy Narine, was out at the 2013 Brooklyn Beer and Wine Festival held at The Lab in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

At the festival, Stacy caught up with the one and only Todd Jones, owner of Sweet Dreams Mini Donuts. A donutologist, Todd has been in the donut business for 40 years; first working with Dunkin Donuts for 25 years to now the owner of Sweet Dreams Mini Donuts.

Even at a beer and wine festival, Todd brought his professional donut making equipment, which is capable of making 1200 donuts in an hour with precision. What makes Sweet Dreams' donuts unique are that they are mini donuts and that Todd uses his donutologist's techniques to come up with unique flavors.

So what's in Todd's creative bag of flavors? How about buttermilk and donuts for grownups: White Hennessy and Ciroc donuts. He is even introducing salty caramel and strawberry shortcake donuts.

Sweet Dreams Mini Donuts are popping up everywhere. They have found their way into the halls of Google and many a celebrity wedding.

On one of the hottest days of the summer, What's The 411TV's correspondent, Stacy Narine, was out at the 2013 Brooklyn Beer and Wine Festival held at The Lab in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Amidst the DJ sounds of DJ Red Boy and DJ CEO, she met Brooklynites and others from Manhattan and New Jersey enjoying beer, wine, food, donuts, and good music.

Pearl Callender, a Trinidadian living in Bedford-Stuyvesant for the past 20 years, was sipping a ginger syrup from Barrow's called Intense Ginger Liquer; while Andrea Rothchild was finishing up a Curious Traveler, a refreshing drink that taste like lemonade mixed with beer. The one and only Todd Jones, donutologist and owner of Sweet Dreams Mini Donuts was also in the house.

The organizers may need to find a bigger venue for next year because the word is already out to be there next year!

Actor Pooch Hall pays a visit to Brooklyn to support Trayvon Martin Basketball Tournament

What's The 411TV Correspondent, Bianca Peart, spoke with actor Marion H. "Pooch" Hall, Jr. who came to Brooklyn to support the Trayvon Martin Basketball Tournament.

The tournament, held at Scarangella Park in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn, was organized and sponsored by Maurice Ballard's non-profit organization, Youth and Community Awareness, Inc.

Pooch talked about boxing both on and off the screen along with his role in the Showtime hit drama, Ray Donovan.

He also discussed his latest project and his aspirations to share the big screen with his role models Will Smith and Jamie Foxx.

And we cannot forget about Pooch as the infamous wide receiver, Derwin Davis, of the San Diego Sabers on The Game.

In the video, Pooch fills us in as to why he is no longer apart of the sitcom.

Continuously making moves in his career, Pooch truly believes "impossible is nothing, it's a matter of going after it."

FYI: Here is the answer to how Marion got the name Pooch. During Marion's childhood, a neighbor nicknamed him "Pookie." His father soon changed it to "Poochie" and over time it was shortened to "Pooch."

It's New York Fashion Week and Ashley McAleavy, Founder and Designer, Remedy LLC, takes us on a journey through the redesign of vintage clothing. Everything old becomes new again through McAleavy's process of upcycling vintage clothing, revamping it so that it looks like it came from the hottest boutique. In effect turning what could be trash into real treasures.

Soledad Haren, Founder of Build a Better Planet discusses the need for sustainability strategies.

To thunderous applause and shout-outs, Earvin "Magic" Johnson, CEO Magic Johnson Enterprises and former NBA Allstar, stepped on the red carpet for rapper and entrepreneur Jay Z's inaugural concert at the opening of the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Speaking to What's The 411 TV's correspondent, Crystal L. Henderson, Magic shared his good feelings about the opening of the Barclays Center. Magic stated that the Barclays Center is not only good for Brooklyn, it is good for New York City. Magic also compared the impending rivalry between the Brooklyn Nets and the NY Knicks to the Los Angeles Lakers and the L.A. Clippers.

The best line of the night came from Magic when Crystal asked him what's his favorite Jay-Z verse. Magic gave that great laugh and smile that he is famous for and said, "...no, no, hey, I love him; I think Jay Z's the best. I would do him a disservice by trying to rap; that's not what I do, I own things, that's what I do."

What's The 411TV producer, Ruth J. Morrison, interviewed various authors: Eric R. Watts, Rodney Wilson, Horace Mungin, and Grace Edwards, and artist KC Washington, owner of Noir -a- Go-Go, at the Sixth Annual Brooklyn Book Festival.

The annual confab for authors, writers, and artists, held on the plaza at Brooklyn Borough Hall, joins the ranks of the many book festivals in the United States. The Brooklyn Book Festival is an initiative of Brooklyn Borough President's office.

VIDEO: Reading and storytelling to make a difference in the lives of children

On a cold wintry Saturday morning, there was a ReadVolution going on at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church and the George H. Murray Preparatory Academy in Brooklyn, NY, where members of the Brooklyn community came together to read to children.

Reverend Kirby Spivey III, Summer Spivey, Mary Brooks, and Tammy Hall discussed why reading to children at an early age is important. The video also features young kids discussing their favorite books, and in some cases, their favorite book was their first book.
